The all-new 2026 Subaru Outback continues to earn industry recognition, recently being named one of Autotrader’s Best New Cars of 2026. Selected from hundreds of new vehicles available to shoppers, the Outback was praised by editors for its versatility, capability, driving dynamics, and bold new design.

This latest recognition highlights the Outback’s long-standing reputation as a segment leader, blending SUV capability with everyday practicality. Autotrader’s editorial team evaluates and drives a wide range of new and redesigned vehicles each year, selecting those that stand out for innovation, value, and overall appeal.

The 2026 Subaru Outback is available now with a starting MSRP of $34,995, offering a wide range of trims including Premium, Limited, Touring, Limited XT, Touring XT, and the rugged Wilderness model.

The redesigned Outback features one of the most significant updates in its history, with refreshed styling, upgraded technology, and enhanced performance. Inside, all trim levels come equipped with a new 12.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster, delivering a modern and connected driving experience.

Under the hood, customers can choose between two proven SUBARU BOXER® engine options: a 2.5-liter engine producing 180 horsepower or a more powerful 2.4-liter turbocharged engine delivering 260 horsepower. Both are paired with a Lineartronic® CVT and Subaru’s renowned Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, along with the X-MODE® Dual Mode System for enhanced traction in challenging conditions.

Designed for both daily driving and adventure, the 2026 Outback offers at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance, raised ladder-type roof rails, and up to 34.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The Wilderness trim takes capability even further with 9.5 inches of ground clearance, electronically adjustable dampers, and distinctive rugged styling.

Safety and driver confidence remain central to the Outback experience. Subaru’s EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology comes standard across all trims. For the first time, Highway Hands-Free Assist is available on Touring and Touring XT models, providing limited hands-free driving capability at speeds up to 85 mph on compatible highways.

With its combination of advanced technology, proven capability, and everyday versatility, the 2026 Subaru Outback continues to set the standard for what drivers expect from a modern crossover SUV.
