These awards come under IIHS’ newly updated and more rigorous 2026 testing criteria, making this achievement even more significant. The enhanced standards include tougher crash evaluations, improved pedestrian safety testing, and a revised moderate overlap front crash test that now assesses rear-seat passenger protection using an additional test dummy.

The 2026 Subaru Forester, including Wilderness and Hybrid models, extends its remarkable legacy with 20 consecutive years of IIHS recognition.
