More Than a Pair of Shoes - Meghan C
Sometimes, hope arrives in a shoebox. Through the Beyer Subaru Loves to Help–Operation Warm initiative, children served by Carpenter's Shelter received brand-new shoes and with them, a little more comfort, confidence, and joy to carry into each new day. For families experiencing homelessness, even an everyday necessity like a dependable pair of shoes can ease a burden. This thoughtful event offered more than something new to wear. It gave each child a moment centered entirely on them—a reminder that they are seen, valued, and surrounded by people who believe in their future. At Carpenter's Shelter, we support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness as they work toward sustainable independence through shelter, guidance, education, and advocacy. Community partnerships are an essential part of that mission because meaningful progress often begins by meeting one immediate need with dignity and compassion. We are sincerely grateful to Beyer Subaru Alexandria and Operation Warm for turning a practical gift into a heartfelt experience for our families. Every new pair represented a brighter and more confident step forward—and a beautiful reminder that no family has to walk its journey alone.

For the past few years, Beyer Subaru of Alexandria has partnered with Blood Cancer United® (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) and Inova LJ Murphy Children's Hospital through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This year, the partnership involved delivering 80 blankets, 50 patient care kits, and messages of hope to cancer patients. On Friday, June 26th, Beyer Subaru of Alexandria personally delivered these items to patients in treatment. This year, Beyer Subaru of Alexandria has also opted to support the Blood Cancer United Urgent Need Program - Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Fund with a generous donation of $7,500, which will provide 15 blood cancer patients financial relief to help offset non-medical costs associated with treatment, such as transportation, food, housing, and utilities.

The funds raised through Subaru’s Share the Love® campaign will make a meaningful difference in strengthening SSA’s Meals on Wheels program. As Beyer Subaru staff have seen during their volunteer shifts, daily Meals on Wheels deliveries are essential for older adults who are homebound, living alone, or facing food insecurity. Each visit provides not only a nutritious meal but also a much-needed safety check and friendly moment of connection. This program truly provides support beyond the plate, helping older adults remain healthy, independent, and aging safely in their own homes. Beyer Subaru’s generous $14,000 contribution will help SSA reach more vulnerable older adults across Alexandria and meet the growing demand for meal deliveries. Our partnership, now more than a decade strong, continues to thrive thanks to your monthly volunteer engagement and ongoing participation in the Share the Love® campaign. Your dedication reflects Beyer Subaru’s deep and longstanding commitment to community service. On 6/27/2025, employees from Beyer Subaru of Alexandria personally delivered these items to patients in treatment and/or hospital staff.
Beyer Subaru of Alexandria Teams Up to Support Local Community - Nate R
Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Alexandria, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Beyer Subaru of Alexandria is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Beyer Subaru of Alexandria have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 02/19/2025, Beyer Subaru of Alexandria donated 120 shoes/socks to Carpenter's Shelter. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.
Facets Food Drive and Sponsorship - Jordy C
Beyer Subaru of Alexandria team members in conjunction with our partners in the Subaru of America DC Zone field team have been happily volunteering with Facets at their monthly food bank at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia. This food drive serves the local community by providing fresh produce, dairy, meat, eggs and shelf stable staples such as rice, beans, and pasta. Beyer Subaru of Alexandria also sponsored coffee and snacks for volunteers over the summer as well.
