Subaru Motorsports USA Gears Up for a New Rally Era
Subaru Motorsports USA is turning up the excitement for the 2025 American Rally Association (ARA) season as legendary driver Travis Pastrana makes his highly anticipated return. Pastrana will debut an all-new rally car at the Olympus Rally in Washington on April 12–13, joined by co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino.
Introducing a New Rally Concept With Vermont SportsCar
This season, Pastrana isn’t focused on dominating the Open Four-Wheel Drive (O4WD) class in the WRX ARA25. Instead, he’s working with Subaru Motorsports USA and Vermont SportsCar (VSC) to grow the sport’s reach in America. Together, they’ve developed a new rally car specifically for the Limited Four-Wheel Drive (L4WD) class—designed to be more affordable and accessible for aspiring rally drivers.
Unlike O4WD vehicles, L4WD cars feature fewer modifications, making them closer to the Subarus drivers see on the road. Pastrana hopes this approach will make rallying more approachable for fans and new competitors. “My goal this year is to have a lot of fun and build on this as a proof of concept that will hopefully inspire more drivers from the USA and around the world to come race with us in the ARA championship,” Pastrana shared.
Anticipation Builds for Olympus Rally and Beyond
While details of the new L4WD car remain under wraps, fans are eager to see it in action on the demanding roads of Olympus Rally. Pastrana’s 2025 schedule also includes Rally Colorado in July, an ARA Super Regional event, giving rally fans more chances to see his trademark energy and skill behind the wheel.
“We have some of the greatest roads in the world,” says Pastrana. “I’m looking forward to building something that will help create great competition for years to come.”
