Subaru of America, Inc. has officially launched the return of its Subaru Loves the Earth® initiative for 2026, continuing its partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation to support environmental sustainability and community growth.
As part of this nationwide program, nearly 600 Subaru retailers are helping distribute 65,000 regionally appropriate trees to customers across the country. This initiative is designed to make a lasting environmental impact while empowering local communities to take part in building greener, healthier spaces.
Strengthening Communities Through Tree Planting
Trees play a vital role in improving air quality, managing stormwater, cooling neighborhoods, and enhancing the places where people live and gather. Each year, the United States loses approximately 36 million trees due to disease, age, infestation, and extreme weather.
Through Subaru Loves the Earth®, Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation are addressing this challenge by making tree planting accessible to communities nationwide. This program builds on the largest corporate community tree distribution effort in the Arbor Day Foundation’s history.
How Customers Can Participate
Customers can reserve a free tree through participating Subaru retailers on a first-come, first-served basis. Distribution events will take place through May 16, aligned with regional planting windows to ensure optimal growth conditions.
Participants will also receive valuable resources, including tree-specific care guides and QR codes with detailed planting and maintenance information, helping ensure long-term success for each tree.
Subaru Love Promise® in Action
The Subaru Love Promise® continues to guide the brand’s commitment to sustainability and community impact. In addition to the tree giveaway, Subaru supports reforestation through multiple initiatives:
Donations through the Subaru Badge of Ownership program, contributing $1 per Arbor Day and Environment badge ordered (up to $2,000 total during April 2026)
Tree planting tied to the Subaru Love Encore and Gifts for Good programs, where returned reusable gift bags result in additional trees planted
These efforts reinforce Subaru’s mission to create meaningful, long-term environmental change while engaging customers in the process.
A Nationwide Commitment to Sustainability
Subaru will further promote the Subaru Loves the Earth® initiative through a nationwide campaign, including a featured “Kids” commercial airing on NBC’s TODAY Show on Earth Day and additional placements across digital, streaming, social, and influencer channels.
With over $340 million donated to charitable causes over the past 20 years and more than 115,000 volunteer hours logged, Subaru continues to demonstrate its commitment to being More Than a Car Company®.
